Deliver Us From Evil — Craft Ideas for The Lord’s Prayer: Part Eight. The Lord’s Prayer ends with a plea to God to “deliver us from evil.” We wish that evil didn’t exist around us, but we recognize that it is part of the world. We don’t need to fear evil, though, because God is greater and more powerful. These crafts consider what it means to be delivered from evil, and also recall a Biblical account that shows deliverance. A “Parting Sea Card” reenacts Moses leading the people across the Red Sea. A “Deliverance Bouncer” is a fun way to act out the concept of being delivered. Craft One: Parting Sea Card
You will need:
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Glue or tape
- Scissors
- Large popsicle sticks (optional)
- Extra decorations (stickers, gems, etc.)
- Markers or crayons
Procedure:
- On one piece of cardstock or construction paper, decorate elements to look like a sea. Consider drawing or gluing footprints in the center.
- On another paper or papers (blue color recommended), cut out shapes to look like waves.
- Decorate the popsicle sticks to look like the Israelite and Egyptian armies, or glue papers to the sticks to represent them.
- Add verses, captions, and extra decorations as desired.
- Glue or tape the waves over the other page, splitting in the center to be able to peel back the “water.” Act out the story as you hear it, moving the popsicle stick armies across the pages when the water is pulled back, and closing it over the Egyptians.
Craft Two: Deliverance Bouncer
You will need:
- Crayons or markers
- Extra decorations (stickers, gems, etc.)
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Construction paper/cardstock
- Paper towel or toilet paper tube
- Balloon
- Small pompom or pipe cleaner
Procedure:
- Decorate the tube with stickers, words, or decorations.
- Cut the tip off of the balloon. Stretch the open end over one end of the tube.
- On the tube or on a separate caption paper, write verses and captions.
- Place the pompom or pipe cleaner inside of the tube. Pull back on the tie of the balloon, and let it go to watch the items fly into the air, “delivering” them from the tube!

- God delivers us from evil…
- God is our rescuer!
- The Lord delivered the Israelites across the Red Sea…and He delivers me!
