Lead Us Not Into Temptation — Craft Ideas for The Lord’s Prayer: Part Seven. In the prayer that Christ taught us, we are called to plead that God would “lead us not into temptation.” These crafts consider what it means to be tempted, and highlight two very different temptation stories in the Bible. They also remind us that God is with us and doesn’t tempt us Himself, but helps us resist temptation. A “Flip-Side Plate” contrasts the Fall of Adam and Eve with the work of Christ. A “Dark and Light Collage” reflects on how we can rely on God when tempted. Craft One: Flip-Side Plate
You will need:
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Glue or tape
- Scissors
- Paper Plates
- Hole Punch (optional)
- Pipe cleaner (optional)
- Extra decorations (stickers, gems, etc.)
- Markers or crayons
Procedure:
- On one side of the plate, highlight the fall in Genesis 3. Draw pictures and/or add verses to emphasize the point.
- On the other side of the plate, illustrate the cross and the contrast of what Christ has done for us as believers.
- Add verses, captions, and extra decorations as desired.
- Option: Add a string or pipe cleaner, with a hole punch, for easy display. Use to remember how Jesus helps us fight temptation, and fights for us!
Craft Two: Dark and Light Collage
You will need:
- Crayons or markers
- Extra decorations (stickers, gems, etc.)
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Construction paper/cardstock
- Pipe cleaner/string (optional for hanging)
Procedure:
- Staple, glue, or tape two pages of paper together, in contrasting light and dark colors.
- On the dark side, add captions to emphasize the struggle of temptation. Write or draw things that might be tempting.
- On the lighter side, write or draw things that would help in resisting temptation.
- Trace a cross, or use a template to cut one out, and glue it in the center of the paper.
- Add extra verses or decorations as desired.
- If desired for hanging, add a string or magnet to the back. Display and remember to obey!

- So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and every beast of the field! On your belly will you go, and dust you will eat, all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” —Genesis 3:14-15
- We might be tempted…God helps us to obey!
- Christ has overcome! He helps me!
- Adam and Eve were tempted and gave in…Jesus overcame! His blood covers our sins!
