Craft Ideas for Micah 6: Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly

What does God want from us? Money? Efforts? Talents? The truth is that God loves us and gives us all we could need. There is nothing He demands or that we could pay Him, except for our love and faith. In the book of the prophet Micah, we are reminded that God wants us to “act justly, love kindness (or mercy), and walk humbly with our God.” These crafts encourage children to offer unto God their hearts and attitudes. A handprint poster features the words of Micah 6:8, and a homemade basket provides a way of collecting service ideas as well as dollars and coins.

  2. Cut the hand and foot out, and cut a paper heart out, as well.
  3. Glue the hand, heart, and foot to another piece of paper or cardstock, to illustrate the elements of the passage. Add extra decorations as desired.

2. Decorate the plates with stickers, colors, and other themes, as desired.
3. Add verses or captions to designate the plates as “offering plates” or basket.
4. Staple the two plate halves together. Alternatively, you can glue, tape, or “sew” with yarn.
5. Add a pipe cleaner or paper handle to the basket. Inside, place collected money or paper slips with reminders of ways to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.”

Bible Verses or Captions to Consider…  (Micah 6:1-8)

What can I offer to God?

Give God your heart!

Act justly…love mercy…walk humbly…

He has told you, O man, what is good;
    and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
    and to walk humbly with your God? -Micah 6:8

“With what shall I come before the Lord,
    and bow myself before God on high? -Micah 6:6
