Craft Activities for Children Luke 2 Jesus as a Young Boy in the Temple.
This lesson focuses on the only Biblical account we have of the childhood of Jesus, where we see His dual nature as man and God revealed. Mary and Joseph worried that they’d lost track of Jesus, but He was in the temple, His Father’s house. These crafts focus on a “hidden in plain sight” element, as sometimes we forget that Jesus is all around us. A “Seek and Find picture” uses semi-hidden objects to create a fun puzzle. A “Hidden Treasure Bottle” offers fun items in the midst of plain ones. Let’s get crafty!
Bible Crafts on “Boy Jesus in the Temple” Luke 2
Craft one: “Seek and Find Picture” You will need:
Construction Paper or Cardstock
Markers and/or crayons
Extra decorations as desired (stickers, objects, etc.)
Scissors
String or pipe cleaner for hanging (optional)
Magazines or picture prints (for collage feel)
Procedure:
Decide what pictures will be the ones that people are looking for. Draw or place (with stickers or objects) those items first.
Create a key to show which objects are being searched for.
Use drawn pictures, decorations, and/or cut-out pictures (magazine or otherwise) to fill in the space surrounding the pictures to look for.
Add verses, captions, and a hanger, if desired. Trade with a partner for a fun challenge!
Craft Two: “Hidden Treasure Bottle” You will need:
Empty plastic water bottle (clear)
Construction paper or cardstock
Stickers
Glitter, gems, small rocks, beads, and other decorative elements to “hide”
Dried rice, beans, or corn kernels
Markers or crayons
Scissors
Glue or tape
Procedure:
Decorate the outside of the bottle with stickers, captions, and more.
Place “treasure” items inside the bottle (gems, beads, etc.).
Place the more “plain” elements in the bottle, using a funnel to guide small items inside and surround the treasures.
Seal the top of the bottle and shake it up to distribute the contents. Peer inside to find the hidden treasures and remember that great things are often in plain sight if we know how to look.
