Craft Activities for Children: Rejoice in Restoration (Zephaniah 3:14-20)

Craft Ideas for Zephaniah 3 for the Third Sunday of Advent 

This lesson highlights the joy we have in knowing that God redeems and restores. The text focuses on Zephaniah 3, where the prophet assures God’s people that He rejoices in them and has a plan for their renewal. These crafts highlight the passage. A “Proclamation Microphone” prepares kids to announce good news. A “Restored Joy Noisemaker” recycles an old item to make a new “instrument.” Let’s get crafty! 

Bible Crafts on “Rejoice in Restoration” Zephaniah 3

Craft one: “Proclamation Microphone”      
You will need:

• Paper towel or toilet paper tube
• Markers or crayons
• Construction paper or cardstock
• Cup (foam preferred)
• Scissors
• Glue or tape
• Optional decorations (stickers, aluminum foil, etc)

Procedure: 

1.  Decorate the outside of the cardboard tube, adding foil and stickers as desired. 
2. Decorate the cup in a similar manner, using a permanent marker to write on the cup and adding extra embellishments as desired.
3. Write verses or captions on the tube or cup, or on a separate paper (to be attached later). 
4. Cut a hole in the bottom of the cup, if possible. 
5. Attach the cup to the end of the tube, securing with tape. Use as a microphone or megaphone to proclaim the good news of Jesus! 

Craft Two: “Restored Joy Noisemaker”
You will need:

• Empty container (coffee, oats, etc.)
• Dry pasta, beans, rice, or corn kernels
• Scissors
• Glue or tape
• Construction paper or cardstock
• Additional decorations as desired

Procedure: 
 

1. Decorate the outside of the empty container, wrapping it with paper and stickers or other items as desired.
2. Add verses and captions. 
3. Place dried beans, rice, corn, or noodles (anything that will make a noise when shaken) inside the container. 
4. Add extra decorations on the lid of the container, if preferred. Use to make a joyful noise and celebrate the restoration that God provides!
