Craft Ideas for Luke 21 The Peace of Advent Season
The theme of this lesson focuses on the peace found in following Jesus. John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ, and we can consider how to point others to Him as the way to life and peace. These crafts recall the work of the prophet and the peace of Advent. A “Peace Plate” reminds us to be still and trust the Lord. A “Point the Way Map” is a simple reflection on John and his emphasis on Jesus. Let’s get crafty!
Bible Crafts on “Peaceful Preparation” Luke 3: 1-6
Craft one: “Peace Plate” You will need:
Paper plate
Markers or crayons
Glue or tape
Decorations (stickers, ribbons, etc.)
Scissors
Construction paper or cardstock (optional)
Procedure:
If desired, carefully cut three center pieces out of the paper plate to make it look like a peace sign (it helps to pencil in first). Note: It might be easier to decorate the plate prior to cutting. Use your preference and best judgment.
On the plate (and/or separate paper), write down verses or ideas of ways to embrace God’s peace.
Decorate the plate with colors and other decorative items.
If desired, attach a string or pipe cleaner for hanging as a decorative reminder of how Jesus provides us with peace.
Craft Two: “Point the Way Map” You will need:
Construction paper or cardstock
Glue or Tape
Scissors
Decorations (stickers, string, etc.)
Procedure:
Place popsicle sticks, paper, or a drawing of a cross in the center of the paper.
Draw or cut an arrow to point toward the cross indicating Jesus as the way to Heaven.
Draw paths leading toward the cross and zig-zagging across the paper, or create a maze that leads to the center.
Add verses, captions, and additional decorations.
If desired, roll up the map to make it look more authentic, or attach a hanger to display and remember how to prepare for Christ.
