Craft Ideas for James 1 and Serving Others
Although we are not saved by our actions, the things that we do show others our love for God and serve His people. God gives us gifts and blessings so that we can bless others.
These crafts celebrate James 1 and remind students of how we can serve others. A “Pass on the Love Present” card serves as a creative reminder of how we can give to those in need. A “Bouquet of Benevolence” uses flowers to consider service opportunities. Let’s get crafty!
Bible Crafts on Obeying God’s Word James 1
Bible Craft One: “Pass on the Love Present”
You will need:
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
- Crayons or markers
- Decorations (ribbons, stickers, etc.)
Procedure:
- Fold the paper or cardstock in half. Cut the outer edges to appear like a present, but allow the card to open along the seam.
- Add ribbon or paper to look like ribbon.
- Add extra decorations and captions to the outside of the card.
- Cut several small hearts out of paper. On each heart, write an activity that could be done to demonstrate care and service to someone.
- On the inside of the card, place additional captions, verse, and decorations. Option: glue or tape a small piece of paper “envelope” to hold the hearts. Otherwise, place the hearts inside the card, and display or give to someone.
Sunday School Craft Two: “Bouquet of Benevolence” (or “Garden of Good Deeds”, etc.)
You will need:
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Pipe Cleaners
- Markers or crayons
- Cupcake liners or coffee filters
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Additional decorations
Procedure:
1. Begin with the background to the “garden.” Write verses and captions, and consider drawing elements on the paper that look like grass or sky.
- Create “flowers” with cupcake liners or coffee filters. Inside the flower, write out a method of demonstrating service to someone. Add paper or drawings to enhance the flower look.
- Attach the flowers to the background. Add pipe cleaners for stems and illustrated or paper “leaves” to the flowers.
- If desired, attach a hanger to display the bouquet and remember the blessings that come from serving people.
