Craft Activities for Children Luke 1 for the Fourth Sunday of Advent
This lesson for the last Sunday of Advent considers how music allows us to express our love for God. Songs and prayers help us to thank Him for His bountiful blessings and gifts. These crafts provide a musical outlet as well as Christmas celebration. A “Maraca Bag” serves as decorative gift and noisemaker. A “Singing Angel Puppet” recalls the songs of God’s angelic messengers. Let’s get crafty!
Bible Crafts on “Sing of God’s Love” Luke 1
Craft one: “Maraca Bag” You will need:
Paper bags (or cups or plates)
Crayons or markers
Scissors
Tape or glue
Dried noodles, rice, or jingle bells
Pipe cleaners or string
Decorations (stickers, glitter, etc.)
Construction paper or cardstock (optional)\
Procedure:
Decorate the outside of the bag with verses and captions. If it’s an Advent season craft, add Christmas elements.
Add extra decorations (stickers, etc.)
On the inside of the bag, place noisemakers, such as dried noodles or beans, corn kernels, or jingle bells.
Seal the bag with staples or tape, and add string or pipe cleaners as a decorative finish. Play as an “instrument”, give it as a gift, or hang as a Christmas decoration.
Craft Two: “Singing Angel Puppet” You will need:
Cup (foam, clear, or plastic)
Coffee filters or cupcake liners
Markers or crayons
Construction paper or cardstock
Scissors
Pipe cleaner or string
Tape or glue
Procedure:
Decorate the outside of the cup with a face (if desired) to make it appear as though an angel is singing.
Use glue or tape to attach coffee filters or cupcake liners to the back of the cup as “wings.”
Attach (or poke through the cup) a pipe cleaner to serve as a halo.
Add verses and captions or additional decorations as desired. Use the angel to celebrate music and remember the Heavenly messengers of the Nativity!
