Craft Activities for Children 1 Corinthians 13 The Greatest Love of God
Love appears everywhere, and is an especially essential theme throughout Scripture. Yet kids often receive the wrong ideas about what love is and where it comes from. These crafts focus on 1 Corinthians 13 and how the apostle Paul describes genuine Godly love. A “Hanging Hearts of Service” display considers methods of showing and sharing God’s love. A “Love Defined Spinner Wheel” recalls the words of the passage. Let’s get crafty!
Bible Crafts on “What is Love?” 1 Corinthians 13
Craft one: “Hanging Hearts of Service” Display You will need:
Construction paper or cardstock
Markers or crayons
String/ribbon
Tape or Glue
Scissors
Additional decorations (stickers, etc.)
Procedure:
Cut several hearts out of paper or cardstock. Vary the sizes and colors, but be sure to have one heart larger than the others.
On the larger heart, place captions or verses that remind us of God’s love for us.
On the smaller hearts, write down ways that we can share God’s love with others.
Add extra decorations to all of the hearts, as desired.
Cut ribbons or strings, and use them to attach the smaller hearts to the larger one. If desired, add an extra hanger to display the hanging hearts.
Craft Two: “Love Defined Spinner Wheel” You will need:
Paper plates
Construction Paper or cardstock
Glue or tape
Scissors
Markers or crayons
Brad fastener
Extra decorations as desired (stickers, glitter, etc.)
Procedure:
Divide one of the paper plates into sections. On each section, write part of the description of love as noted in 1 Corinthians 13.
Cut a small segment out of the larger plate so that one section at a time will be visible when they are stacked.
On the larger plate, note Scripture references and the question “What is Love?”
Add extra decorations to both plates, as desired.
Use a brad fastener to attach the plates together and spin the wheel to remember the verse descriptions and practice explaining what the Bible tells us about love.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
-1 Corinthians 13:13
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. -1 Corinthians 4-7
