What does God’s Word say about children and their importance to God? Children are a Reward from God according to the Bible

Psalms 127:3

(ESV)  Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.

Psalms 127:4

(ESV)  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.

Psalms 127:5

(ESV)  Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Proverbs 17:6

(ESV)  Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.
(KJV)  Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
(NIrV)  Grandchildren are like a crown to older people. And children are proud of their parents.
(NLT)  Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

God Commands Parents to Teach their Children

Proverbs 22:6

(ESV)  Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 13:24

Ephesians 6:4

(ESV)  Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

(NIrV)  Fathers, don’t make your children angry. Instead, train them and teach them the ways of the Lord as you raise them.

Isaiah 54:13

(ESV)  All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.

(NIrV)  I will teach all of your children. And they will enjoy great peace.
(NLT)  I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace.

Deuteronomy 6:7

Matthew 18:10

(ESV)  “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
(KJV)  Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
(NIrV)  “See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones. Here is what I tell you. Their angels in heaven can go at any time to see my Father who is in heaven.
(NLT)  “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.

Matthew 18:6

(ESV)  but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
(KJV)  But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
(NIrV)  “But what if someone leads one of these little ones who believe in me to sin? If he does, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and be drowned at the bottom of the sea.

Mark 10:15

The Bible Commands Children to Obey and Honor Parents

Colossians 3:20

(ESV)  Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Ephesians 6:1

Ephesians 6:2

Proverbs 1:8

There are many Bible verses about children. One of my favorites is from Psalm 127: “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.” (NIV)
